Great, traditional, courteous staff
As always, traditional Meenzer good Stubb! It's nice when good things are preserved like this :-)
Good wine selection. Moderate prices and fast friendly service. Gladly again.
Small but fine wine bar with a good selection of regional as well as a few national wines. Great food at a good price. Outside of the corona time, a great place to get into conversation with people because tables are maxed out for you. We will come back a few more times. THANK YOU
Very nice service, nice atmosphere and very tasty, down-to-earth and yet smart food. Plus a very good selection of wines at moderate prices. Why only 3 stars? You can only pay in cash - unfortunately that will no longer work in 2020.
Absolutely great service, I was served very friendly. Plus moderate prices, what more could you want!
an absolute highlight. we had the spicy salsiccia with potato lentil salad and the fried blood sausage with potato cakes and onion chutney. a total recommend when in Mainz and looking for a wine bar with creative local food.
Rustic traditional wine bar in the old town of Mainz with very friendly service We had reserved a table in the Hottum wine bar in the old town well in advance for our stay in Mainz. It is one of the oldest wine bars in town and the rustic furnishings are authentic and very cozy. In addition to a very good range of regional wines, there is a fine selection of dishes. The wine bar classics are prepared with a kick from fresh quality products. We tried fried black pudding with apple and chili chutney and potato pancakes, as well as brawn from the pork cheek with fried potatoes and salad. The portions were so good that we could share them. Both dishes were impeccably prepared and the taste impressed us. The fried black pudding slices tasted strong and had a creamy consistency. Together with the potato pancakes and the fiery-sweet apple-chilli chutney, it reminded us of a refined variant of Himmel un Äad, which is known in the Rhineland. The lean jelly from the pork cheek had a delicate texture and balanced seasoning. The fried potatoes served with it were prepared very carefully with care - nothing tastes worse than carelessly fried potatoes. Conclusion: the visit to the Hottum wine bar met our expectations across the board. Impeccably prepared fine home-style cuisine and an authentic, no-frills wine bar ambience.
I think the problem here is that I'm too young for this long-established gas councilor ...
In a historical ambience, with a corresponding patina - with good home-style cooking and good wine, loving and attentive service - this wine tavern is an absolute must. Price / performance is right. Make a reservation.
Super nice service. Delicious food and good wines. Fair prices. Gladly again
We didn’t get to try the food but the wine was delicious and the staff were super friendly and helpful with recommendations. We’ll definitely come back the next time we’re in Mainz
Great and nice service. Have responded to all special requests and have put a lot of effort into it. Food and wine were great! Also vegetarian !! ;-)
Really very nice here - delicious wine, delicious food, very nice owners. Top
Super price / performance and quality ratio. Regardless of whether it is schnitzel, lentil salad, blood sausage, Fridkadelle or other dishes. I can recommend everything with a clear conscience. Nice selection of wines, good sparkling wine, a friendly team and great hosts. An honest place and an institution in Mainz. Thank you very much, we would love to come back!
Great food - great wines - great service This wine bar is something special in Mainz!
Very nice old wine bar. Food very good, lentil salad with goat cheese, great veal schnitzel, great wines. Service very friendly and attentive. Acoustics a little too loud, but I still give my recommendation to visit.
Total sweet ambience, wine and food very tasty, had a very nice evening :-)
Simply the best
super all around package.
Really cool! Delicious dishes, super tasty local wines!
Awesome restaurant, great food nice staff. Will be back ?
We were on the occasion of my birthday with 4 people on Wednesday, 13.11.19, in the wine house Hottum. I could not have planned anything better. We were all extremely impressed by the unusual and very tasty regional food, as well as the excellent wine offer. The very nice service was the icing on the cake. And the price was more than justified. That was certainly not the last time at the Hottum. Thank you for everything !!!!
Very nice place, the atmosphere and the food were fantastic.
We recommend. Cozy. Reservation recommended, or flexible go;). Super nice service. Food was delicious.
Had an amazing dinner at this wine bar. Had a Weiner Schnitzel with fried potatoes. Everything cooked fresh and good quality. The ambiance was charming, dark and cozy. Slightly older crowd but that isn't a factor for me. Food was delicious.
Quaint Mainz wine tavern. Unfortunately, you can only sit inside. The advantage: In warm weather you will find a place ... Otherwise, it is always very crowded. That speaks for the wine bar. Eating, drinking, serving. All good
A beautiful atmosphere, typical dishes, obviously very good beers. Extremely friendly staff. Very small, very full and very dark, but all three things are an advantage because they give the restaurant a truly traditional and welcoming atmosphere. However, the floor where you eat is well lit. Perfect for those who love substantial food. Peculiar fact for an Italian: entered at 7 pm in the room, there were tables that were already finishing their dishes
Very good!
Awesome authentic German food!
Good food and nice atmosphere. People get put together on one tish, which adds to a nice cosy feeling. Lots of locals.
Schnitzel was so good I ordered a second one. Then went back two nights later.
Variety wine selection, very friendly staff. Simple food but fresh and delicious. Cash only but not cause any inconvenience. Everyone here including every guests is happy. The atmosphere of restaurant is very happy. Would love to go again. If possible, try to book a table first.
Amazing food, atmosphere, staff and wine! What else would you want?
It is a small place... But very tasty and great service... You will need a reservation because this place is very popular...
Excellent wine. Very good service. Don't forget to order the mainzer handkäse (not for everybody)
The best Schnitzel I had in Germany, and one of my top 5 restaurants of the entire world. Even though I’m a foodie and visited 19 countries. The wine selection is also fantastic. I cannot recommend tou enough this restaurant.
Agree with all the other great reviews. Dinner was wonderful, we licked the plates clean - including dessert! Two helpful tips to add. 1.) They only take reservations for more than two people. and 2.) They are cash only... No credit cards.
Living in Mainz for two years now and this is still our favorite Weinstube- suggest reservations
Cozy, great service, tasty local wine, and good food. Would return in an instant.
This place is amazing! Food is very tasty, surrounding is very nice and warm. I recommend for all. You won't regret it. I'm definitely coming back there. Special compliments for staff. Very friendly and charming, both of them! THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR EVENING EVEN MORE SPECIAL! ❤️??
Cash only. Very small space. Potions are very small. Expensive. Food was ok. Service was good and nice. Would not come back and would not recommend.
A local favourite. Good wine and local food
